珠串的历史悠久，与宗教、文化、审美和艺术紧密相连，成为古老传统中最为经典的样式之一。佛教传入中国后，珠串也被赋予了佛教的意义，每串佛珠都由一定颗数的珠子串成，其特定的数目都有缘由，被赋予一定含义。108颗表示断除108种烦恼；54颗表示菩萨修行过程中的54阶位；36颗表示36天罡护佑；18颗表示十八界、即六根、六尘、六识；14颗表示观音菩萨的14种无畏，等等。收藏珠串，无论是挂珠、持珠还是戴珠都可作为一种饰物，增加人的美感、威仪和自信。

Beads necklaces and bracelets are the most classic traditional objects with a long history and close connection with religion, culture, aesthetics and art. After Buddhism was introduced into China, beads were also endowed with Buddhism. The number of beads in each work was specific with special meanings. 108 beads refer to 108 kinds of troubles, 54 to 54 ranks in the process of Buddhist practice, 36 to 36 gods, 18 to 18 causes leading to troubles, 14 to 14 goods brought by good deeds and so on. To collect and wear beads can increase people’s aesthetics, prestige and confidence.
